NewsBreak is an app that uses AI to aggregate local news and content for its users. You can use pixels in your Ringba account to integrate with your NewsBreak account for event tracking and seamless server-to-server data exchange between the systems.
This article explains the steps you take in the NewsBreak platform and the Ringba platform to enable the integration. It contains the following sections:
Prerequisites
You need the following before you complete the steps in this article.
- A Ringba account and a NewsBreak account
Note: The concept of a pixel in Ringba is called a postback URL in NewsBreak. - A completely configured and active Ringba campaign
If you are using a third-party tracking platform (such as, CAKE, Redtrack, Everflow, or Volumm), refer to the article about the platform you're using for specific setup guidance.
In NewsBreak
You complete the steps for the following procedure in your NewsBreak account.

- NewsBreak generates instructions and a postback URL template similar to the following:
https://business.newsbreak.com/tracking/attribute?callback=[tag:User:clickid]&event_type=<EVENT_TYPE>
Note: The callback (click ID) and event_type parameters are required for all postback events. - Copy the Postback URL and save it to use later in this procedure.
In Ringba

Create a pixel
Use the following step to create a tracking pixel:
- Navigate to Integrations > Pixels in the left navigation panel.
Note: You can also complete these steps within a campaign. See Campaigns. - Click the Create Pixel button. A form appears to configure the pixel.
- Complete the fields in the form:
- Name: Enter a descriptive name to easily identify this pixel when assigning it to a campaign (for example, NewsBreak Conversion Pixel).
-
Fire Pixel On: Select the event that triggers the pixel. Choose the option that aligns with your conversion tracking requirements.
Tip: See the Options for Pixel Fired On section of the Pixels article for a description of each option. -
URL: Enter URL you created earlier in NewsBreak.
Important: Don't forget to replace the event_type with the correct type of events. -
Advanced Options: Toggle this switch on to see additional, optional fields to configure the pixel.
Tip: You can leave this switch toggled off if you do not require additional configuration.- HTTP Method: Choose GET as the HTTP method this pixel should use.
- Headers: Enter the parameter name ("key") and the parameter value ("value") you want the pixel to send. Use the Token button to choose a call tag for the value field. Click the Add button. Repeat for each parameter you want to include.
- Authentication: This integration does not require additional authentication.
- Add Filter button: (Optional) Click this button to define a limit on when this pixel should fire based on a tag value. If you click this button a tool like the Tag Routing Filters appears for you to define criteria. If the criteria are not met, the pixel does not fire.
- Click the Create button to create and save the tracking pixel.
Assign the pixel to the Ringba campaign
Now that you have created the pixel, you can assign it to the Ringba campaign whose data you want to send to NewsBreak.
- In Ringba, navigate to Campaigns, and open the campaign associated with your NewsBreak traffic.
- Scroll to the Tracking Pixels section and click the Add Pixel button.
- Choose the pixel you created in the previous step, and then click Add.
- Save the campaign.
In NewsBreak and Ringba
The last step of this process requires you to complete tasks in both NewsBreak and Ringba.
Test the integration
Before you can save the NewsBreak event, you must successfully complete a test. Use the following steps.
- In NewsBreak, open the event you created at the beginning of this process. Paste your landing page test URL into the designated Test URL field. The landing page URL looks similar to the following:
https://demo.test-domain.com/test_product/?newsbreak_cid=__CALLBACK_PARAM__
Important: Remember that you must include the __CALLBACK_PARAM__ macro in your ad landing page URL. Newsbreak replaces this macro with unique click ID when the user clicks your ad.
- Click Go Test. NewsBreak opens the landing page testing URL.
- On the landing page, perform the action that needs to happen to trigger the event. For example, placing a phone call.
Once the event is successfully fired, the test status in NewsBreak appears as Passed. - (Optional) In Ringba, navigate to Reports > Default screen. Scroll down to the Call Details section and search for your test call.
- Click the down arrow to the left of the timestamp and review the events in the Events tab. Find the Pixel Fire Event and confirm that the postback was executed and returned a 200-series status code.
- After the test is confirmed, return to NewsBreak and click Save to finalize the event setup.
