If you have noticed that you are receiving plenty of calls, but your dashboard says Number Pool Miss for a high number of them, you are missing out. These calls may be successful, but you aren't getting the benefit of the advanced tracking capabilities that number pools offer.
Fortunately, you can avoid this problem in a few simple steps by increasing the capacity of your number pool.
What Does Pool Miss Mean?
Number pools use a JavaScript snippet on your landing pages to display a different phone number to each caller. When a caller calls using that number, Ringba can use the caller ID to connect the call to the browsing data you were collecting on your landing page.
When so many potential callers are visiting your landing page at the same time that you run out of number pool numbers, the landing page shows a default number.
For example, imagine your number pool contains 50 numbers. If 50 potential callers all visit your landing page at the same time, each one sees a different phone number from the number pool. However, if anyone beyond those 50 visits the landing page, the number pool doesn't have any more numbers to show and those people sees the default number instead.
That is a Number Pool Miss. You can see your count of number pool misses on the Ringba dashboard.
Note: Number pool misses also appear in a column on the Manage Pools screen.
Multiple people could be seeing the default number at the same time, so Ringba doesn't know which landing page data to tie a call to, and you miss out on that advanced tracking and the insights it provides.
Fortunately, you can avoid this problem by adding more number to your number pool.
How to Add Numbers to Your Number Pool
Increasing your number pool capacity is easy. You can purchase new numbers for your number pool or assign numbers you already purchased.
Purchase new numbers
Use these steps:
- Navigate to Numbers > Manage Pools.
- Find the number pool you want to change and click the name to open it.
Tip: You can use the search field at the top of the screen to help you find the number pool you want.
- Increase the number in the Pool Size field.
- Click Save.
Ringba creates the additional new numbers you need using the same Prefix value you already entered when you created the number pool.
Assign already-purchased numbers
To assign a number you already purchased to a number pool, the number must meet these qualifications:
- It must not already be assigned to a different number pool
- It must be a number in the same country as the other numbers in the number pool
- If the number pool has a defined prefix, the number must use that same prefix
If the number meets those qualifications, you can use these steps to assign it to your number pool:
- Navigate to Numbers > Manage Numbers.
- Find the number you want to add to the number pool.
Tip: Filter the list to only numbers Not in Number Pool using the filter field at the top of the screen.
- Click the + icon in the Number Pool column. The Select Number Pool window appears.
- Complete the Select Number Pool field by choosing the number pool where you want to add this number.
- Click Add.
Ringba adds the number to the number pool. The next time you open the number pool, the value in the Pool Size field includes the number you added.
