URL Parameters pass information directly into Ringba for reporting and integration with other software platforms. For example, information you may want to pass into Ringba could be an “affiliate ID” or “keyword”. You can also use this data to control how calls should be routed, giving you the ultimate control over your call traffic.
Passing specific information into Ringba about your users gives you the ability to filter and group by this data in the reporting interface. The more detailed the information passed into our system, the more detailed and flexible our reporting system becomes. This information can also be used as tag routing filters for your targets. If you want to use a URL parameter for reporting purposes, then it's not necessary to do anything, as soon as you receive these tags they will be presented under the tags tab, like the example below.
In case you want to use the tags as tag routing filters the first thing that you need to do is to declare this parameter in Ringba so we can input this tag to your reporting and you can use them in the platform.
You can use this URL parameter to input the same data that you are getting from another platform or to beautify what you are receiving in Ringba to use as a report. We are going to explain both options here and how to fill each field depending on the one that you need.
After creating the parameter the last step is to add a filter for your target according to what you want to accomplish.
How To Create a URL Parameter
To create a Ringba URL Parameter:
- Navigate to URL Parameters under Integrations in the main menu.
- Click Create URL Parameter.
-
Configure the URL Parameter Options:
- URL Parameter
- Reporting Menu Name
- Report Menu Name.
- Click Create to create and save the URL Parameter.
Check next sections to see what situation apply to your case, if you want to apply option 1 or 2.
Option 1) Using the URL Parameter in Ringba the same way that you receive it from 3rd party platform
For example, if you want to receive the parameter as name both the URL Parameter field and and the Report Name have to be typed with the exact string the client is using to name a given tag and Reporting Menu Name has to be User.
Option 2) Beautifying the data that you receive from another platform to have a different name in Ringba
For this option, the number pool captures the URL of the website of the visitor and you can rename it the parameters. For example, you receive this:
www.mytest.com?ftv=true
Where ftv means "First time visitor." You can choose to declare the parameter in Ringba to be presented as first time visitor instead of as ftv. To make this declaration, you create it as presented below.
Using URL Parameters as Tag Routing Filters
Once you have created the URL Parameters, you can now use them as tag routing filters. To do this, navigate to your Target and go to the Tag Routing Filters section. Under the User dropdown, you see the URL Parameters you have added to your account. From here, you can configure your routing logic and use the parameter as a filter for the specified target.
