When you want to use the ZIP code of the caller for routing purposes, there are four methods to collect a caller's ZIP code:
- Using Ringba's Instant Caller Profile (ICP)
- Using a "Gather" node with IVR routing
- Using Ringba's Number Pool technology
- Utilize Inbound Data Enrichment (IDE)
The following sections describe each of these methods.
Method 1) Use Ringba's Instant Caller Profile (ICP)
ICP is a Ringba feature that has an extra cost, please contact your account manager if you would like more info.
With ICP, the call will be enriched with data based on the caller ID and if the Zip Code is available the call will be tagged with the following: Caller Profile - Address - Zip 5. If you want to use it to route calls, you will want to use this tag with a Tag Routing Filter.
Note: Before you can start using ICP, please reach out your Ringba account manager to request an upgrade to your account. For more information about this feature please check this link Instant Caller Profile with Ringba.
Method 2) Use a Gather Node with Call Flows
Placing a Gather node to request the ZIP code from the caller using Call Flow is the only manual way in which the caller interacts with the system and enters the Zip Code themselves. The name of the tag varies depending on what you name it when setting it up.
In this example the tag name will be Gather - Zipcode.
If you want to use the previous example inside a Tag Routing Filter, the name of the tag will be Ivr - Gather - Zipcode.
Example of a Call Flow with a gather node and a dial node, this flow is representing a case where the caller input the zip code and on success it will dial the routing plan with the targets.
Method 3) Use Ringba's Number Pool Technology
There is no extra cost for this feature; you simply pay for the numbers in your pool as any other number. We will use the public IP information to locate the impression and give you a zipcode based on this geo location. From these three options, this is the least accurate since it relays on external variables. If you want to use it as a tag routing filter the name of the tag is Js Tag- Geo- Zip Code.

Method 4) Utilize Inbound Data Enrichment (IDE)
There is no extra cost for this feature, when using IDE your publisher can send the data before the call reaches Ringba's system and we will tag the call with the data. Your publisher needs to be able to send a web request containing a parameter containing the Zip Code and this will show up as an User tag in your reporting. You can use this tag as in a Tag Routing Filter, just be aware that the name of it varies depending on how the publisher sends it, we recommend that they use zipcode to make things easier.
